Quetta - Divisional Superintendent Railways Muhammad Anif Gul said Tuesday that new railway track from Spanzan to Kuchlak will be laid under CPEC and five railway stations of Balochistan including Quetta Railway Station will be upgraded.

Addressing a press conference after inaugurating conference hall at Railways office, DS Railways also came hard on those corrupt elements of the department.

“Stringent action will be taken against corrupt elements in the department,” resolved DS Railways. He said those who have encroached railway lands should return these voluntarily otherwise authorities would get it evacuated.

Recounting the significance of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he maintained it was a mega project which would surely prove a fate-changer for Pakistan and Balochistan as well.

With the official functioning of CPEC, the Railways had built an international standard hall at its office for foreigners’ use, and would also construct a quality hotel where guests could stay in.

Anif Gul told media persons that the stations of Sibi, Harnai, Aeb-e-Gum, Quetta and Chaman were being upgraded. The DS railways added that a meeting with Inspector General Frontier Corps Balochistan will be held to mull over security prospects before commencement of construction works on Spazan to Kuchlak railway track.


Acting Balochistan Governor Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani on Tuesday said that elected representatives of local bodies’ (LB) should step forward to play role in meeting challenges faced by public at their door-steps.

Talking to a delegation of local bodies’ representatives, Ms Raheela went on to say that activation and stability of local bodies would cast extremely favourable impacts on overall situation.

Directing the elected representatives, she urged them to come up to the expectations of public and leave no stone unturned to address their grievances. She said they should also show responsible behaviour while living within the domain of one’s own powers.

The acting-governor pressed the delegation to use official funds with sincerity to benefit maximum number of civilians.

The delegation also apprised the acting-governor of the challenges and non-availability of funds. Ms Durrani fully assured the delegation for resolving their problems on priority basis.
