BAHAWALPUR-Regional Police Officer Idrees Ahmad directed the district police officers to launch a vigorous anti-crime crackdown and take action against negligent and lethargic policemen.

Chairing a meeting, he directed for early arrest of the proclaim offenders, crackdown on unregistered vehicles and streamlining of the investigation process by adhering to effective timeline that is vital in provide justice. He said, “The immediate crackdown on proclaim offenders in general and top 20 proclaim offenders in particular is a key to check the prevalence of incidence of criminality.”

The RPO emphasised a need for sharpening the vigil to check the free utilisation of unregistered vehicles that are mostly used for the acts of criminality. “The investigation process must be streamlined on scientific lines by ensuring merit based investigation which must be finalised within a specific time frame. It will boost the pace of ensuring criminal justice,” he maintained.

He directed the district police officers to take stringent measures against those investigation officers who fail to perform their duties diligently and honestly. “Special measures must be taken to wipe out narcotics dense and brothel houses,” he said. “Effective measures be taken to install CCTV cameras and security alarms at all business centres including jewellery shops, money changers, patrol pumps.” He advised the owners of these enterprises to adhere to the standard operational procedures regarding security.
