ECP expresses anger over absence of applicants; adjourns hearing till 22

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has adjourned the hearing of references of disqualification of Captain (r) Safdar, Jehangir Tareen and Imran Khan till November 22.

Five member bench headed by Chief ECP Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan heard the case. The counsels of Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen during the hearing took stance that neither those who leveled allegation appeared in the court nor their counsels.

The counsel of Jehangir Tareen requested the court that the reference issued by speaker of NA against us based on ill intend as NA speaker did not hear our stance in this regard.

Expressing his anger over absence of applicant Muhammad Khan Daki Chief Election Commission remarked that applicant was not appeared before the court in last hearing.

In another hearing EC has sought reply from Imran Khan till November 22 during the hearing of reference furnished by NA speaker against disqualification of PTI’ Chief by the PML-N members including Talal Chaudhry.

The counsel of Imran khan told media that the advocate of applicant did not appear before the court on which the court issued notice to the applicant.

The EC said that if the applicant wants to precede the case then he should appear before the court.

EC has sought written rejoinder from Captain (r) Safdar during the hearing of the case regarding disqualification of Captain (r) Safdar and adjourned the hearing till November 22 owing to absence of PM’s son-in-law and his two counsels.

In another case ECP has directed Senator Liaqat Khan Tarakai to furnish his reply till December 7 on petition regarding disqualification registered by ANP leader Bushra Gohar against PTI leader senator Liaqat Tarakai under the allegation of not showing his assets.
