In a country where the minimum marriage age for girls is 16, it is shocking when police and state prosecution and even the lower judiciary allow for the rape of a 12-year-old by gangsters. According to a report released by War Against Rape (WAR) that at least four women are raped every day in Pakistan and last year only 109 FIRs have been registered against 370 rape cases in the country. In fact, women and children are the backbone of any nation and every state is required to give them their rights. But unfortunately even as a Muslim country we are doing an injustice to our small girls and boys who are far unsafe from such threats? Is humanity doomed in this country? Shouldn’t we be ashamed of such cases? It is my humble request to the government of Pakistan to not be silent and save the lives of these children.
