KARACHI: MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan has insisted authorities here on Wednesday, to release other political prisoners as well as Waseem Akhtar has been released.

While addressing media, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan said that while Karachi’s elected Mayor Waseem Akhtar was being released on bail, there are others like him who are still languishing in prison.

He questioned the authorities that why there is no peace and eqaulity in state.

His words were; "There is peace in Karachi. Why hasn't any development taken place?". "The problems of the people relating to water and garbage collection should be solved," he added.

He also urged Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to grant local government representatives their rightful powers, saying that "Sindh Chief Minister should allow the local government representatives to exercise their rightful powers”.

"The Chief Minister should stop being so stubborn," he stressed.

Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan said that if the problems of the people were not addressed, then protests and sit-ins would take place in the city.

Regarding MQM Pakistan, Izhar-ul-Hassan said that the party would open its doors for anyone who wished to join it, even Musharraf or Ishratul Ebad Khan.

"MQM's doors are open for everyone, including the former president or the former governor," he said.

However, he mentioned that any party member resignation would not be replaced with someone from outside the party but from within.
