Power minister directs to ensure 100% recovery of electricity billing

Federal Minister for Power Division, Umer Ayub Khan on Friday has directed the six power distribution companies to ensure 100% recovery of current electricity billing collecting 83.2 billion rupees for the betterment of liquidity of the power sector.

He issued the directive at a meeting of the power division here in Islamabad today.

Federal Secretary Power Division Irfan Ali, officials of PEPCO, CEOs of DISCOs concerned and other officials of Power division were also present at the meeting.

Umar Ayub also directed the CEOs to eliminate theft and illegal hooking of electricity and take strict action against those involved in it with the help provincial task force established in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It is also decided in the meeting to freeze the figures of old receivables as on 31.10.2018 with targets to achieve 100% recovery of current billings besides reducing the line losses as per the goals set by NEPRA.
