LAHORE   -  Pakistan’s Bilal Asim, Abdul Hanan, Hamid Israr and Raza Gahus on Monday advanced to the next round of the ITF Pakistan ITA-Midcourt International Junior Tennis Championships being played at PTF Tennis Complex Islamabad.

In the boys singles first round, four Pakistani players managed to score victories and made way to the second round of the prestigious event.

Bilal Asim edged passed Jai Dutta of USA 2-1 with a score of 6-2, 6-7(9), 6-1. Abdul Hanan was another promising local players who played well against Dev Kanbargimath (ROU) and won the encounter with a score of 7-6(6), 6-2. Hamid Israr played well against Russia’s Fedor Sosedkin and won the encounter 6-2, 5-7, 7-6(9) after a tough battle. The fourth and last victory Pakistani player was recorded when Raza Ghaus overpowered Turkey’s Ferdi Tangal 6-1, 6-3.

In other boys’ singles first round matches, Aarav Samrat Hada (NEP) beat Haider Ali Rizwan (PAK) 6-1, 6-2; Nikita Safonov (RUS) beat Hussnain Ali Rizwan (PAK) 6-1, 6-2; Kohshi Ishibashi (JPN) beat Sami Zeb Khan (PAK) 6-1, 3-6, 6-1; Aryan Giri (NEP) beat Ahtesham Humayun (PAK) 7-6(1), 6-2; Mujtaba Ali Khan (USA) beat Ahmad Nael Qureshi (PAK) 6-0, 6-3; Ahmet Atabay (TUR) beat Asad Zaman (PAK) 6-2, 6-1.

Yunes Talawar (IRI) beat Huzaima Abdul Rehman (PAK) 6-4, 6-3; Abhishek Thorat (USA) beat Abdullah Adnan (PAK) 6-1, 4-6, 6-3; Dimitry Bessonov (RUS) beat Kashan Tariq (PAK) 6-0, 6-0; Aki Zuben Rawat (NEP) beat Ibrahim Sohail (PAK) 6-2, 6-1: Amir Asylkozhaev (RUS) beat Shehryar Anees (PAK) 6-0, 6-0; Teano Balducci (FRA) beat M Zaryab Khan (PAK) 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. In the girls singles first round, Zainab Ali Raja (PAK) beat Yana Earsado (USA) 6-1, 7-5. The rest of the matches will start today (Tuesday) at 10:00 am.
