ISLAMABAD - Chief Commissioner Kamran Lashari Wednesday said security arrangements in the Capital have been reviewed in order to ensure protection of citizens and a comprehensive and effective strategy was being evolved to deal with any untoward situation. He informed that strict security measures were being taken to ensure the protection of life and property of the citizens and in this regard all available resources would be used to further upgrade and strengthen security arrangements. He informed that the strength of Islamabad Police was being increased as part of enhancing security arrangements and police would be equipped with sophisticated  weapons and the force would be imparted modern training to enhance their professional capabilities in order to meet the challenges of this time. Chief Commissioner Lashari told that installation of CC TV cameras and scanners at the exit and entry points would be expedited and sniffer dogs would be used for detecting of explosive material. Kamran Lashari told that he has directed the District Administration and police to ensure fool proof security measures in the Federal Capital and remain extra vigilant and pro-active at the all exit and entry points of city and checking of vehicles be ensured without any inconvenience to the citizens. The police officials have also been directed to enhance the patrolling in the area and ensure strict surveillance in order to foil any suspected activity. He said that ICT Administration and police were also mobilising the local community for beefing up the security of markets and other public and worship places. Meetings were being held with the traders and ullema for enhancing the security of these places. Trader community has agreed in principle to install security cameras in the markets and these would be installed in the Supper and Jinah Supper Markets in the first phase and trained security guards were being deployed in the markets. Similarly ICT administration and police have also directed the owners of hotels restaurants and guesthouses to keep the particulars of the visitors and inform the local area police and Rescue 15 in case of any suspicious person. Police was also conducting the checking of hotels for security purpose. The land lords and property dealers have also been directed to maintain the particulars of the tenants and furnish their list to the local police for security purpose and should inform the Rescue 15 or local area police in case of any suspicious activity.
