Qasim Zia officially appointed PHF president

LAHORE - Former Olympian Qasim Zia has been officially appointed the new president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) in place of Mir Zafarullah Jamali. The ministry of sports has released the formal notification of the appointment of Qasim Zia as the new president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation after the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani gave approval of the appointment of Qasim Zia and accepted the resignation of Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. Qasim Zia was a member of the victorious Pakistan team of the Olympics 1984. He was opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly during the previous govt and now the MPA. He was elected in the bye-elections this year on the platform of Pakistan People's Party.
