LAHORE Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt is likely to meet Chief Patron and President Asif Ali Zardari to seek extension for his position. A source in the PCB said that Butt has been called to respond to the complaints the President has received from different quarters. Sources claim that the meeting is expected within the next few days. A board official stated that it was routine meeting in which the PCB chairman always briefs the chief patron of the routine events and seeks his approval on certain issues. The PCB chairman wants the Patrons guidance to prepare a future course of action for the preparation of the national team for the all important ICC World Cup 2011 to be held in South Asia. Butt, who is in Dubai for an ICC meeting, is expected to return on Friday (today). The meeting is expected any time within the next four to five days. It is a crucial meeting in the wake of rummors of possible changes in the PCB set-up, a source claimed. The meeting is being seen as an opportunity for the PCB Chairman to seek the Presidents nod in deciding some important matters including the recent spot-fixing row. Some reports say that the PCB chairman has finalised a roadmap for the preparation of the national cricket team for the 2011 World Cup. The Presidents approval would be sought which would help raise a competitive and a controversy-free team for the World Cup. Changes in the PCB management and the team set-up would be made after getting approval from the Patron, an official said. The source however ruled out any changes in the top hierarchy of the PCB, saying that there was no such possibility unless and until Butt himself made such a request.
