Chairman public accounts committee and leader of PML-N Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has challenged the appointment of Chairman NAB in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a private TV reported on Saturday. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan filed the petition through Akram Sheikh Advocate. The opposition leader pleaded in the petition that Justice(R) Deedar Hussain Shah should be immediately stopped from working as Chairman NAB. Nisar in a statement after appointment of Justice (Rtd) Didar Shah had said that the government has not consulted with the opposition over the NAB top office appointment as required under the constitution. Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Pervez Rasheed has said that the appointee on the accountability office should be an impartial person but Justice Didar Shah has been a member of Pakistan People's Party and contested election on the party ticket. He further said that the government has not consulted with the opposition over the appointment. Earlier Shahid Orakzai had also challenged the aforementioned appointment of Chairman NAB in the Supreme Court while Barrister Iqbal Jaffery challenged the appointment in Lahore High Court. Barrister Iqbal Jaffery took the stance in his petition that the appointment of Chairman NAB has been done without consultation with the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the opposition leader and is a violation of 15 articles of the Constitution of the country. Hence the appointment should be declared null and void.
