ISLAMABAD Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) has vowed to resist attempts aimed at harming the independence of judiciary tooth and nail and called upon the Government to immediately implement verdicts of the apex court in true letter and spirit. PML-N would go to any extent to resist the attempts directed to undermine the judiciary, as fate of democracy in the country is based on an independent judiciary, a senior PML-N leader informed TheNation on Friday. He called upon the Government to shun its policy of confronting the Supreme Court and implement its verdicts in letter and spirit to steer the country out of the prevailing crises. Meanwhile, the PML-N Friday submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat to discuss threats to the independence of higher judiciary of the country. Party sources said that situation had led to create a commotion in the country after the Governments alleged intention to withdraw notification of the judges restoration. The motion signed by three PML-N MNAs stated that the report of undoing judges restoration notification triggered a chaotic situation in the country, prompting judges to gather on late Thursday night at the Supreme Court. The reports also raised deep concerns among lawyers and civil society. The adjournment motion has demanded that this important issue should be taken up for debate in the Parliament.
