A fragile future

According to the Asian Development Bank report titled Asia 2050, by 2050 A.D. Pakistans per capita income will be US$ 7900 as against Indias US$ 41700. By then our population will increase by 80% to 335 million while Indian population will increase by 32.5% only. The question is, can we afford to continue pursuing policies that have resulted in an untenable multilaterally hostile environment for us in which we have had to spend billions upon billions on our security at the cost of ignoring our basic development needs culminating in abject poverty and little national progress?
