OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Punjab government has granted approval to set up a 100-student PGMI Medical College, and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would make a formal announcement at a function at the institute on Sunday (today) in connection with the commencement of new academic session. PGMI Principal and Lahore General Hospital Prof Tariq Salahuddin said that the management has completed all the arrangements to start first MBBS class during the current year. He said there would be no additional financial burden on the Punjab government as the PGMI already had essential infrastructure, including experienced faculty and a modern lab. He said the Punjab Chief Minister had fulfilled his promise of establishing a new medical college by establishing the 100-student PGMI Medical College. He said the Pakistan Medical and Dental Association had completed inspection. The first students of the PGMI Medical College are going to be lucky as a very able and experienced faculty would teach them, Prof Tariq Salahuddin said. He said that with the establishment of new medical college, the intelligent and bright students of the nation would be able to avail the chances of excelling themselves and it would also be helpful to make up the deficiency of doctors.
