LAHORE The Court of District and Sessions Judge, Lahore, Mujahid Mustaqeem, Saturday reserved its verdict on the petition filed by PML-Q MPA Ch Moonis Elahi seeking his acquittal in the National Insurance Company (NICL) case which has been registered by the FIA charging Moonis and others with financial embezzlement to the tune of billions of rupees in the purchase of lands by the company. The court heard the parties and announced to pass the decision on October 21. Earlier, FIA Deputy Director Ch Muhammads written arguments were presented to the court in addition to his submissions that the witnesses examined during the investigation of the case have accused Moonis of getting the accounts in question opened through them. He stated the money in question (Rs 320 million) was transferred to those accounts on the instructions of Moonis. Moonis lawyers had completed the arguments on the last date of hearing. However, in the second round, Malik Amjad Pervez argued that the prosecution witnesses had turned hostile to the prosecution.
