KARACHI  - Police claimed to have foiled a major terror incident in the city ahead of Eidul Azha by defusing three bombs in Ahsanabad area in the suburbs of Karachi on Tuesday.

According to SHO of Sohrab Goth police station, the police found three bombs from roadside near a seminary Jamia Rasheedia located near Super Highway.

Extra contingent of law enforcers, including the rangers and police reached the site and cordoned off the entire locality and called the bomb disposal squad. The BD experts reached the site and made them defused.  According to BD experts, they were shell bombs and buried in the ground. The total weight of all the three bombs was around three kilogrammes, however, police officials said the bombs were apparently placed there to carry out a major terror activity. A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.

Following the action, Sindh Inspector General Police Shahid Nadeem Baloch directed the police to remain alert while discharging their duties and ensure effective functioning of advance intelligence collection units at police station levels.
