KARACHI  - A local leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat was shot dead by armed men in an act of target killing in Gulberg locality on Tuesday.  The victim,  identified as Abdul Hameed, was sitting at his milk shop situated in Block-5 of the Gulberg locality when the incident took place.

Police officials said at least four armed men riding two motorcycles were behind the incident. Two of them opened fire at the victim. He was shot multiple times and died shortly after the incident. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to family. Police officials said the victim was shot at least four times and 9mm pistols were used in the incident. A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.

 The ASWJ spokesperson condemned the incident and demanded arrest of the culprits. He was associated with the Kausar Niazi Colony’s unit and killed over sectarian basis.

Separately, a youth was found dead near Crown Cinema within the jurisdictions of Kalri police station of Lyari. The victim has yet to be identified. Police officials said the body was placed in a gunny bag and several marks of torture were also found on it. It was shifted to morgue after completing medicolegal formalities at Civil Hospital while further investigation was underway.
