Karachi police would ensure optimum compliance of Contingency Plan for Eidul Azha with provision for foolproof security of 3,987 mosques, around 315 imambargahs, more than 330 Eid gahs, and some 270 open spaces where Eid prayers could be offered.

Sindh Police Inspector General Shahid Nadeem Baloch was informed in a meeting to review a contingency cum security plan prepared for Karachi by Additional I.G. Police at his office on Tuesday.

The meeting that extensively reviewed by name deployment of cops under the Eid Contingency cum Security Plan expressed its satisfaction that an efficient strategy has also been evolved by police department for security around 37 identified worship sites of Qadianis, Ismailis and other communities.

As per the contingency plan 19,400 cops would undertake the security responsibility for worshippers visiting the place to offer Eid prayers.

Moreover, arrangements are also being made for deployment of police men, in plain clothes, around as well as inside all mosques, imambargahs and other relevant sites during Eidul Azha.

SSPs pertaining to all districts alongwith all divisional SPs, SDPOs and SHOs would supervise and keep strict vigilance on random snap checking and patrolling around identified prayers’ site , public places and areas with important installations.

The police teams have been strictly directed to also ensure technical sweeping and mandatory screening at sensitive sites.

As per strategy evolved under the contingency plan immediate restriction has also been imposed on provocative and intriguing wall chalking, literature, objectionable to any community, have also been banned under section 144.

Karachi police under the envisaged strategy would also ensure optimum compliance of the code of conduct developed for hide collectors in the city besides providing security cover to the vehicles designated for transportation of hides from collection to storage points.

IG Sindh was informed that under the contingency plan cops deployed on 560 mobiles vans and 140 motorcycles would ensure round the clock monitoring during Eidul Azha. Shahid Nadeem directed the concerned officials of Karachi police to strengthen its grip in the city with focus on absolute security and safety of the citizens celebrating the festival.

Attention must not be towards sensitive areas only but each and every locality in the metropolis must be provided security cover complimented by regular monitoring and adequate vigilance so to avert untoward instances and nab criminals trying to create disturbance.

“Strict vigilance must also be ensured at all the entry and exit points of the city,” he said.

This, he said must be besides strict security of places where people would offer their Eid prayers, perform their religious obligation to sacrifice animal.

Baloch has also appealed to the citizens to immediately report and not to ignore any suspicious activity they may notice around them or any incident that could be harmful for the people in general to the police control room established at the central police office.

The control room at CPO would also be help coordination and constant contact between cops on duty around the city.

The IGP directed Additional IG to ensure close contact with other law enforcing agencies with specific purpose of intelligence sharing.

According to Rawalpindi Police spokesman, 652 mosques of the district, 73 Eid congregations and 67 Imambargahs would be given proper security cover during Eid prayers.

Elite Force, Mohafiz Squad, Special Branch personnel along with ladies police and police national volunteers would also perform duties during Eid days.

As per plan, women policemen and police cops in plain clothes in different bazaars were also deployed. Close circuit cameras were also installed at important places and locations to check the movement of anti-social elements.

On the special instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Bilal Saddique Kamyana, a comprehensive security plan was formulated for Eid ul Azha. Policemen would also patrol in various sectors and police officers of respective circles would ensure proper security at the Eid congregations to be held at various locations of the city.

Walkthrough gates and scanners would also be installed at main Eid congregations for the safety of the citizens. Police in-charges of all circles would ens re proper security arrangements at the Eid congregations.

Special directives have also been passed on to all the officers concerned for the effective security measures. Special pickets have been set up at all the entry and exist points of the city.

According to a spokesperson of Islamabad capital police, the IGP Tuesday directed the police officials to remain high alert and tighten patrolling on entry and exit points of the city to avert any untoward situation during Eid days. "No laxity would be tolerated. We need to remain vigilant to take care of belongings of all those present in Islamabad and those who has travelled to their homeland for Eid celebrations," said the IGP.

"The IGP Islamabad police has directed for effective security measures in the city on the festive occasion. Strict vigilance of the city areas should be ensured and private security guards must be made alert to tackle any situation," said the spokesman.

He added that special police deployment will be made at Faisal Mosque on Eid day and walkthrough gates as well as scanners will be installed as a part of security measures.
