KP govt slammed for ignoring rain, hailstorm affected areas

MARDAN - Anjuman-e-Kashtakaran, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday strongly criticised the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government and lawmakers for not giving attention towards the rain and hailstorm affected areas of the province.
“Farmers of the province are on the mercy of Allah in this critical situation while the priority of the government is other matters,” the office-bearers of Anjuman-e-Kashtakaran said this while addressing a news conference on Wednesday.
The press conference was addressed by Abdul Haleem Khan Mayar, President, Haji Namat Shah Rohani, Vice President, General Secretary Mohammad Ismail, Sher Alam Khan Swabi President, Musa Khan, President Katlang, Qamar Zaman advocate, President Takhatbhai and other said.  The speakers said the hailstorm and heavy rains destroyed crops, including sugarcane, maize and vegetables in Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda and Nowshera districts.  They said that majority of farmers were very poor and they are dependent on these crops and have no other source of income.
They strongly condemned the PTI lawmakers, provincial government and local administration of the mentioned district for not visiting the affected areas.
They strongly condemned Chief Minister Parvez Khattak and his cabinet members and said that Parveez Khattak own district’s several villages are affected from heavy rain and hailstorm but he did not visit the area so far.
They demanded the government to declare Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda and Nowshera districts as calamity-hit and compensate them for their losses.
