“Consistency is the key to success.” Imran Khan proved this proverb, as 22 years of his continuous struggle finally bore fruit. He became an inspiration especially for young people by becoming the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Imran Khan is a former Pakistani cricketer and Chairman of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf. As one of the most successful cricketers, he retired from cricket in 1992. After it, he decided to take part in politics and for this very purpose; he founded Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf in April 1996. In October 2002 Khan contested for a seat from Mianwali in National Assembly. But before that, in Pakistan general election of 1997, he ran for two seats of National Assembly and lost both to the candidate of PML (N). In 2007 Khan had to face political opponents in and outside the parliament. In October 2011, Khan addressed more than 100,000 supporters in Lahore, challenging the government policies. Another successful gathering of Khan was held in Kashmir on 25 December 2011.
From 2011 to 2013, there started a bitter war of words between Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan. On 21st April 2013, he launched his final public relations campaign by introducing his policies in which he introduced a uniform education system. But he failed to get majority seats in the National Assembly and could make his government in KPK only. Pervaiz Khatak took oath as the CM of KPK from PTI. Khan strongly criticized the government and its policies. He remained successful in disqualifying the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif for the whole of his life. After a period,
He wanted to take a change in Pakistan. For this, he gave his Manifesto titled as “A Road to Naya Pakistan”. Later, he achieved an excellent success by winning the 2018 elections and finally became the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
In his first speech after becoming the prime minister of Pakistan he promised to make Pakistan a welfare state like Medina. Yasmin Rashid stated that their government is working to improve the living standards of local people. Government is working to make improvements on grass root level such as to improve health and education sectors are on the priority. They are in struggle to provide clean and safe drinking water. According to her they are improving drainage and sanitation system and dumping solid waste material to make the country neat and clean. Moreover they are providing insaf sehat cards to those who need these cards and can’t afford health facilities. By getting these cards they can avail medical facilities free of cost. PTI is claiming that they are trying to working on grass root level.
When we ask people that what they are expecting from new government? Their answers would be that government should work for good governance by making proper laws, rules and regulations in all departments. There should be law and order and its proper implementation in the state. People are expecting that this government will work for the improvement of local bodies. There will be proper division of power. Everyone will be aware of his/her duties and work according to it. People said that the decisions that are taken by the government will be made by an open transparent process, so that each person will have the awareness and knowledge about the policies and the steps of government that they will take for different purposes.
When we give a look to the 1st speech of PM Imran Khan then we can make consequences that he can fulfill the expectations of people. Because in his speech he talked from tourism to trees, health to education, corruption to accountability, police to civil services, water to pollution, KPK to Baluchistan, street crimes to other social evils etc. people are expecting the same thing from him. But the point is he didn’t talk about terrorism, religious minorities, and separation of power, media censorship and missing person etc. People are wondering whether he is fulfilling his promises or he is making castles in the air.
Khan’s life will always be a motivation to the youth. It took him a very long time to change the nation’s mind, but he was persistent and unbroken. He taught the real meaning of struggle and proved that “no one can climb the ladder of success with both hands in pockets”.
But still people are curious and looking forward to what he does in his tenure. The youth is especially so excited for the new policies and change for what he claims a “Naya Pakistan”. The wait is now to see that how the people’s point of view changes towards him before and after of his being a Prime Minister.
