ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Capital Territory Administration has further intensified its drive against profiteering and so far imposed fine amounting Rs4, 10,000 on 850 profiteers during the month of Ramazan. Chief Commissioner Hamid Ali Khan told that ICT has made elaborate arrangements for checking the price hike and to curb the profiteering tendency during the month o f Ramadan. He told that 14 price checking teams headed by the magistrates were conducting daily price checking in the markets and those indulging in profiteering were imposed heavy fines on the spot. He said that citizens were being provided maximum relief on the food items and then have highly appreciated the steps taken by the ICT Administration and set up fair price shops and sasta bazaars in the city and rural areas. ICT has also ensured the smooth supply of 20 kg flour bags at the rate of Rs 300 in the city and rural areas. Meanwhile Assistant Commissioner rural Asia Gul conducted price checking in Khanna Chowk and imposed fine amounting Rs25,000 on 25 profiteers for not displaying the rate list and over charging. Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Capt retired Shabaz Nadeem during price checking in Barma Town imposed fine amounting Rs11,000 on 17 profiteers for over charging. AC Sadar Malik Afsar imposed fine amounting Rs18,000 on 10 profiteers during checking in CDA Weekly bazaar in G-10/2. City administration has so far arrested over 40 profiteers for over charging and selling food items at the higher rates and not displaying the rate list. Magistrate Farasat Khan imposed fine amounting Rs4000 on 10 profiteers in F-8/4.
