LAHORE The Lahore High Court Chief Justice taking suo moto action against the blasphemous material on the international websites Wednesday called for the appearance of Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and Secretary Information Technology Wing, Ministry of Science and Technology, Islamabad on Thursday (today). Taking a serious view of the presence of objectionable and blasphemous material against the Holy Prophet (SAW) on the international websites despite the Court orders to ban such sites and remove that materials, the Chief Justice has asked the said officials to appear and explain their position that why this all is still there. It is a very serious matter and has to be noticed with the seriousness it deserves, the court observed while invoking jurisdiction of Article 199 (c) of the Constitution on the matter. The court took the suo moto proceeding while hearing a matter regarding printing of some objectionable pictures in a book being taught at Fuaji Foundation School, Rawal-pindi. The SP Pothohar Division appeared and informed the court that a case under section 295-C of the PPC had been registered. On which the court disposed of the case. During the same proceedings the Court learnt that the objectionable picture was downloaded from an international website wherein this and much more other objectionable and material derogatory to the Holy Prophet (SAW) and Islam was present. Taking note of that the court passed the said directions to the officials and also directed the Deputy Attorney General and the Advocate General Punjab to ensure compliance with the order of this court on their respective end and also assist it on the next date of hearing that is September 16 (Thursday).
