LAHORE Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday exchanged views about the scenario emerging from floods and the steps initiated to provide relief to the victims. The CM had visited the flood-affected areas on Eid day and had the first-hand information about the miserable plight of the victims. The CM briefed the PM about the measures he had taken to rehabilitate the affected people and compensate their losses. He told him about the amount of money he would be needing to enable the affectees to stand on their own feet. The PM told the CM that he would continue to pursue his policy of national reconciliation and would take all political parties on board vis-a-vis important national issues. The CM had said in a recent interview that he had a very good working relationship with the PM, however, asserting that did not trust the president. Online adds: The PM assured CM that government would not leave the flood affectees alone at this difficult time and would complete the rehabilitation work with the cooperation of all political forces. The PM said we would take leadership of PML-N into confidence regarding rehabilitation of the affectees. He said the reservations of the Punjab government about Watan Card would also be removed and aid would be provided to the affectees on time. The PM further said that government is receiving the foreign aid and it would be disbursed through a proper channel.
