LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Food and Industry Ch Abdul Ghafoor Khan has said that Rs 200 million would be spent on the construction of silos throughout the province. According to an official handout, the Minister stated this while presiding over a departmental meeting here on Wednesday. He said that these silos would be constructed in 10 cities including DG Khan, Tounsa, Rohjan, Jampur, Kot Adu, Jalalpur, Narowal, Mianwali, Bakhar and Tehsil Lahore. The Minister said that more funds would be generated to sale out the godowns situated in congested areas. After completion of these silos 3 lakh tones wheat can be stored, he added. He also said that wheat is our national asset and we are trying our level best to preserve this asset. He said that tenders have been issued to all national newspapers by the department. In this respect 38 construction companies are interested and have submitted their profiles. For this purpose an agreement will be signed with these companies to construct silos, technical expertise and investment. He said that all these silos would be completed during current financial year.
