NANKANA SAHIB - Education is key to success and development of the country thus the students who had secured positions and showed excellent results in the exams would be capable of running the country one day, said MNA Barjis Tahir during a scholarship distribution ceremony. The ceremony was held at Govt Guru Nanak High School, where 325 male and female position holders of the recently held matric, intermediate, graduation and postgraduation examinations, were distributed Rs22.9 million scholarships provided by the Punjab government. He said that the provincial government was striving to promote education and encourage intelligent students enabling them to play a key role in national development. He said that the students had been presented the guard of honour as they would be in power to run the country. “At present, we are far behind in education than the rest of the world,” it was said. On the occasion, hundreds of students, teachers from the district, acting DCO Jamil Ahmed, the EDO education and MPA Tariq Bajwa were also present. Imran, a resident of Nankana who is now student of Halley College Lahore, thanked the Punjab chief minister for awarding scholarships and financial assistance on merit and in transparent way to the students.
