LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, whose first cousin happens to be the deputy prime minister, has surprised the masses by asking the government to register a strong protest over the blasphemous movie.

Instead of urging the deputy prime minister to take a tougher stance on the issue, Shujaat, in a statement issued on Saturday, asked the government to lodge a strong protest with the United States over the movie.

The PML-Q chief said in the traditionally-written statement that there would be no compromise on religion. He suggested that the coalition government should play a lead role in devising a unanimous strategy of the Ummah over the issue.

Shujaat asked the coalition partners to block YouTube and summon the US ambassador for lodging a strong protest against the blasphemous movie. He also asked the US administration and YouTube management to tender an apology to the Muslims.
