LDA to execute uplift plans worth Rs1b


LAHORE – The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will execute a number of development projects in various localities of the City at a total cost of more than Rs1 billion for improving the physical infrastructure in the provincial metropolis.
This was decided in the Governing Body meeting of the LDA on Saturday with District Coordination Officer and LDA Noor-ul-Amin Mengal in the chair.
The meeting was participated by LDA Vice Chairman Amir Asgher Dar, Wasa Vice Chairman Haji Muhammad Sharif, LDA Director General Ahad Khan Cheema, Additional DG (HQ) Mariam Kayani, Additional DG (Housing) Muhammad Usman, Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed, Chief Town Planner Ch Muhammad Akram and representatives of the provincial local government, housing, P&D and finance Departments, besides administrators of the nine constituent towns of the City District Government Lahore (CDGL).
The Governing Body gave approval for carrying out development of infrastructure on the land that would be retrieved from encroachment in the LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme, Lahore, at a cost of Rs985.95 million.
It also gave go ahead for widening, improving and carpeting of 3-kilometre long service roads along Khayaban-e-Firdousy from Shauk Chowk to Southern By Pass, MA Johar Town, at a cost of Rs102 million.


The project of construction of bridge at Satukatla Drain near Chandni Chowk Quaid-e-Azam Town, will cost Rs39.455 million. An amount of Rs9.32 million will be paid as compensation of 12 structures that had been acquired near Kharak in Sabzazar Scheme, for widening and improving the Multan Road.
The meeting also decided to adopt the Punjab Finance Department notification regarding special allowance equivalent to 50 per cent of PhD allowance on acquiring MS/MPhil degree to LDA employees.
The meeting also allowed amalgamation of additional land measuring 20 kanals 16 Marlas 80 Sq ft in a private university situated at Khyban-e-Jinnah. However, it would only be used for educational purposes and the administration will have to pay commercialisation fee to the LDA for this purpose. The meeting also approved the proposal of construction of signal free junction at Qartaba Chowk, Ferozpur Road, on engineering procurement construction basis.
