SHEIKHUPURA - All out efforts will be made to provide maximum funds to lifting the healthcare standard at District Headquarters Hospital, said Special Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Syed Mushtaq Shah while chairing a meeting of the Health Department officials here the other day. EDO Heath Dr Rafiq Ahmad, DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Mubashar Ahmad, Dr Abdul Rauf, DMS Dr Noor Muhammad, Dr Masroor Kaifi and others attended the meeting.He directed the local health authorities to provide free healthcare facilities to people and services delivery in Emergency, trauma centre, laboratory of the DHQ Hospital.Meanwhile, Human Right Forum Chairman Ch Ameer Afzal while talking to The Nation here on Saturday criticized the poor services delivery at DHQ Hospital. He urged the Punjab Health Secretary to take notice of doctors and paramedical staffers negligence for ignoring the patients. He claimed that influential patients were being treated while the poor patients were deprived of all facilities. He demanded equal status for all patients at the hospital. He blamed that the doctors were pursuing patients to visit private clinics instead only to extort heavy fees. Ameer Afzal emphasized the need for improving condition of emergency and provision of all available facilities to patients visiting both the Indoor and Out-Door of the hospital. When contacted DHQ Hospital MS Dr Mubashar said that the hospital was confronted staff shortage which was hampering smooth delivery of healthcare services. He claimed that the higher authorities had been informed about the problem in writing, adding that hiring on vacant posts could help ensure treatment of maximum number of patients.6 gamblers arrested: The City Police arrested six snooker gamblers here the other day. According to police, Riaz, Imran, Adil, Zahid Rehmani, Yasin Khokhar and another were busy gambling in a snooker club situated on Chiti Kothi Road. On a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and arrested them. The police also recovered Rs2,270 from them.  On the other hand, the arrested people alleged that they were playing snooker in club meanwhile the police entered the club and demanded bribe. On refusal, they arrested them. They demanded an inquiry against the high-handedness of the police.
