Water shortage hits Pindi areas hard

RAWALPINDI  - Different parts of garrison city including DAV Collage, Khayban-e-Sir Syed, China Market and the adjacent areas have been facing acute water shortage for the last several days.
It is relevant to mention here that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA, Malik Shakeel Awan’s residence is also located in the water thirsty region of NA-55 constituency.
Residents of the area including Tanveer Ahmad, Razzaq Ahmad, Asad Mehmood, Prof Gul and many others talking to this agency complained that they have been facing acute water shortage and despite repeated complaints no remedial steps have been taken to restore water supply to their localities.
They said while complaints are registered at the Inquiry offices, senior officers of WASA including Assistant Director and Director never attend the telephone calls.  The attendants tell the callers that either the officers were in meeting or on visit to different areas.
They deplored the slackness of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for failing to ensure provision of water supply to their localities despite multiple complaints. Dwellers of the localities threatened to seize Wasa office and block Benazir Bhutto Road for all kind of traffic if provision of smooth water supply was not ensured.
They also asked Director General to take notice of lack of interest of his officials in attending the grievances of the citizens.
