Sharifs responsible for flood devastation: Imran

PTI says rulers drowned poor masses for vested interest

JHANG - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Monday held the rulers responsible for the devastation caused by flash flood, saying that ‘Sharif brothers’ sunk the entire Jhang district to save their sugar mills and protect their interest.
In fact the rulers of this country are industrialists who always prefer their interest to the poor masses of the country.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan was addressing flood-affected people during his visit to Haveli Shaikh Rajo, Jhang where he went to review flood destruction.  While addressing a big gathering at Haveli Shaikh Rajo, Imran assured that he and his party stood by the affected people in this hour of trial, adding that the PTI would not leave the flood victims alone and would utilised all-out resources for their welfare and rehabilitation.
The PTI chairman thundered that the fake rulers who came to power through rigging were responsible for this destruction.  “The greedy rulers of this country have sacrificed everything in this area, even precious lives, for their vested interest,” he took a swipe at Sharifs, adding that ‘Mian brothers’ were constructing a bridge over Chenab River near Bhuwana, a few miles away from the existing bridge over Chenab at the cost of billions rupees. “There is no need for this bridge and they (Sharifs) are constructing this bridge to provide an easy access to Ramzan Sugar Mills situated in Bhuwana,” Imran claimed, adding that this bridge would only facilitate supply of Sugarcane to Ramazan Sugar Mills which was owned by Sharif brothers.
The PTI chief claimed that the rulers had wasted billions of rupees from public exchequer only to secure their personal interest. Imran pointed out that had the Jhang administration breached Atharan Hazari protective dyke in time, floodwater would not have caused such huge devastation in the area.  “But here again Khadim Punjab sprung into action because he did not want to angry his favourite personalities of this district,” the PTI charged. He asserted that now the masses had risen up and were determined to get rid of these corrupt and cruel rulers who in fact wished to become ‘king’ of this country.
He said that the downtrodden and oppressed masses of the country would end the government of ‘Sharif brothers’ within no time. He urged the masses to heed what he was saying that “general elections will be held very soon.” He also recalled that during 2010 floods, he had distributed seeds and agricultural implements to people of this area in Jhang. Imran said that that this time the PTI had established “Imran Khan Foundation” to support flood effectees. The PTI chief also announced that he had brought Rs7 million and ten truckloads by foods, drinking water, tents and other necessities of life for the affected people of Jhang. He informed that to ensure transparency in the provision of financial assistance and relief goods, he had appointed Rai Taimour Hayat Bhatti as District Coordinator who would ensure fair distribution of relief goods the flood affectees.
The PTI district chapter leaders and a large number of workers were present on the occasion.
