Despite completion of its building and installation of equipments at a cost of billions of rupees, the Women Technical College has not yet been made functional.

The female students have to get admission to expensive private colleges. In the period of ex-chief minster Pervaiz Elahi, the foundation stone of the Women Technical College was laid in Layyah. Its building was completed at a cost of over Rs13 million. Two college buses and technical equipments were bought and installed in the college. However, the staff and teachers have not been appointed. Due to the non-functionality of the college, valuable technology equipments, college buses and building are being destroyed. Despite the public and student protest, the Punjab government has not taken any step to make it functional. Student demanded that the Punjab chief minster should immediately make the collge functional.
