AHMEDPUR EAST

A PML-Q central leader has alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif betrayed the people of Bahawalpur by reneging on his promise of the restoration of Bahawalpur province.

MNA Chaudhry Tariq Bashir was addressing a ceremony held in his honour by former special magistrate Makhdoom Syed Ghulam Mujtaba Bukhari who along with his group members joined the opposition group formed for the local bodies polls. The ceremony was also addressed by PML-Q District President Syed Salahuddin Ahmed Jeelani, JUI-F leader Hafiz Ayub Sabar, Teheek-e-Bahali Sooba Bahawalpur secretary general Allah Bakhsh and Syed Ghulam Mujtaba.

Cheema vowed to support the restoration of Bahawalpur province. He told the audience that the target would not be achieved by just organising meetings, conferences and seminars in air-conditioned rooms. He stated that PML-N bagged votes in Bahawalpur region over promise of the restoration of Bahawalpur province in May, 2013 General Elections. After coming to power, however, the Sharifs had set aside their election commitment, he said.

He lashed out at the PML-N leadership and termed their government’s anti-farmers. He said that the government’s foreign and domestic policies had failed. He claimed that the Sharif brothers have inducted two elders, one provincial minister, one parliamentary secretary and chairman standing committees only to counter him.

Cheema urged the participants to elect honest and dedicated politicians in the upcoming local bodies polls and reject cheaters, swindlers and so-called politicians who believe in ethnic politics. He thanked BNAP Chief Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi for his support because of which he was elected as MNA from NA-187 Yazman.

He said that under the leadership of Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi he was forming opposition group to face ruling party candidates. He said that he was asked and offered to join other political parties but he would not ditch Chaudhry brothers in difficult times. He thanked Makhdoom Syed Ghulam Mutaba Bukhari and his group for joining opposition election alliance in Bahawalpur district. Earlier, the host lauded the services of Mr Cheema, and expressed his full confidence in the leadership of both Tariq Bashir Cheema and Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi.

During his stay in Ahmedpur East, PML-Q leader drove to the residences of member district peace committee Bahawalpur Muslim Qureshi and offered Fateha for the departed souls of his mother.
