WB team, admin discuss education project

A World Bank delegation met with various district officers of Toba Tek Singh and discussed with them the matter of starting early childhood classrooms in the public sector schools of the district.
Education Department Management Unit of Schools Director M Asif, DCO Amer Ijaz Akbar, District Monitoring Officer Asif Ali Dogar and EDO Education Rao Attiq were informed by the delegation that the ECC programme had been started in 1,174 schools.
The delegation also went to inspect such schools in Chak 330 JB, Awami Basti and Gojra.
SIT-IN ENDS: A Farmers’ sit-in ended after 11 continuous hours after successful talks between farmers representatives led by Kissan Raj Tehrik central chief Arsalan Khan Khakwani and mills officials with the mediation of additional district collector Zeshan Shabbir Rana, Kamalia AC Hafiz Muhammad Najeeb and DSP Rana Khalid Rashid.
The sit-in had been staged outside Kamalia Sugar Mills. The farmers had claimed that Rs1 billion were outstanding against mills but after initial checking of accounts mills management told them that Rs350 million were remaining against the mills.
Finally, an agreement was signed by the mills finance director Fayaz Hussain in which it had been promised that all the dues will be cleared by October 30 while Rs20 million will be paid on Tuesday and then every day Rs10 million will be paid.
32 HELD: Police arrested 32 proclaimed offenders in August, said Sadar DSP Azhar Yaqub. He added that Rs1.5 million valuables had been recovered from their custody.
