ECP serves notices to Fawad Ch, Azam Swati for levelling allegations

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has served notices to Federal Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati and Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry over allegations against the institution.

The ECP has also sought evidence from Azam Swati and Fawad Chaudhry after they leveled allegations against the election body.

The notices were issued to both ministers after a session of the election commission chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja in Islamabad.

ECP members Nisar Durrani, Shah Muhammad Jatoi, and other officials of the commission attended the meeting.

The ECP members expressed anger over federal ministers for accusing the commission of taking bribes.

Earlier on Friday, Federal Minister Azam Swati had accused the election commission of taking bribes from the companies to manufacture electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Similarly, Fawad Chaudhry said that the attitude of the Election Commission is tantamount to depriving the parliament of its privileges.
