Wapda’s Perniya Khan wins National Table Tennis title

LAHORE   -   Pakistan Wapda’s highly-talented player Perniya Khan clinched the 56th National Table Tennis Championship 2021 seniors women’s singles title by beating Mehmooda Haider of Wapda 4-2 in the final played in Quetta. The 16-year-old Perniya of Lahore outpaced Mehmooda 4-2. Perniya, who is also reigning national junior champion, outsmarted the experienced player 8-11, 11-5, 11-8, 8-11, 14-12, 11-8. Perniya told the media that she is glad to maintain his winning streak at national level in both junior and senior categories and she is keen to continue this momentum in international events as well. Perniya, along with other four Pakistani players, will now feature in the Asian Table Tennis Championship, scheduled to be held from Sep 22, 2021 at Doha Qatar. “I am working very hard to give my best in the Asian event and will try to win laurels for my country.” The highlight of the final day was the presence of CM Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan, who not only witnessed the enthralling finals but also exhibited table tennis prowess while playing against champion Perniya, who and her family were highly appreciated by the CM. In men’s singles final, Shah Khan of Wapda outclassed former champion Asim Qureshi 4-0.
