FM Bilawal to meet US counterpart on sidelines of UNGA

ISLAMABAD    -   Foreign Minister Bilaw­al Bhutto Zardari would meet his US counter­part Antony Blinken in New York on the side­lines of the UN general Assembly session later this month.

Diplomatic sources told The Nation that the meeting has been scheduled through dip­lomatic channels and this would be the third ministerial level con­tact between Pakistan and the United States since the change of the government in Paki­stan in April this year.

Foreign Minister Bi­lawal Bhutto would be part of PM Shehbaz Sharif’s delegation to 77th UNGA session.

Bilawal Bhutto would also participate in the OIC contact group on Kashmir, which would be taking place on the sidelines of the UNGA in New York and would deliver a strong speech on the prevail­ing situation in IIOJK. FM Bil­awal is also expected to meet his counterparts from many other countries for which time and dates are being organised through the Pakistan mission to the UN. Sources said there is no scheduled meeting be­tween PM Shehbaz Sharif and US President Biden; however, PM Shehbaz would attend the dinner hosted by Joe Biden in honour of heads of govern­ments and states attending the 77th UNGA. Pm Shehbaz Sharif along with his delega­tion would visit New York from 19th to 24th Septem­ber to attend UNGA. PM She­hbaz Sharif would deliver his speech at UNGA on 23rd September for which all ar­rangements have been made and UN has intimated time for the speech to the Paki­stan mission to the UN. Ma­jor focus of the meetings by both Prime Minister Sheh­baz Sharif and FM Bilawal would be devastation faced by Pakistan due to floods.
