DASKA - In a heartrending bloodbath, a man in complicity with his wife slaughtered some 10 members of his brothers family including eight children on Thursday. The horrid nightmare is a sequel to a land dispute in village Jhulki-Satrah. Javaid and his family were asleep in their house when his younger brother Zafar Gujjar in collusion with his wife Tahira killed Javaid and his family members with sharp-edged knives and axes. The deceased are: Muhammad Javaid, his wife Fehmida and children Kubra (4), Naveed (9), Rehman Javaid (6), Ibrahim (5), Rimsha (4), Ayesha (3), Ismail (2) and Aleena (8-month-old). Abdul Rasheed, father of Javaid told the police that he had distributed his ancestral 40 acres of fertile agricultural land among his four sons including Javaid and Zafar. As Javaids share of 10 acres of land was at prime location, his younger brother Zafar Gujjar grudged it and often picked up quarrel with him. Both the brothers and their families were living in the same house. Zafar Gujjar managed to escape after the scene. On a tip-off, Sialkot DPO Capt (r) Muhammad Ameen, Additional SP Sialkot Ather Ismail, SP (Investigations) Sialkot Rao Muneer Zia, ASP Daska Asmatullah Junejo accompanied by some journalists reached the spot and started investigations into the killings.
