Siddiqui was elected in 2008 as the chairperson of Young Business and Professional Women, International for a 3year term. Founded by Dr Lena Madesin Phillips in 1930, BPW International has become one of the most influential international networks of business and professional women with affiliates in 90 countries in five continents. BPW has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and participatory status with the Council of Europe. Its members include influential women leaders, entrepreneurs, business owners, executives, professionals and young career women. Siddiqui has represented BPW Pakistan as National Chairperson at the United Nations and at various global conferences. She has been a board member of Young BPW International since 2004. This seminar was the first in the series of similar sessions that will be organized to attract the attention of high performing young career women to become members of BPW. Young Business and Professional Women (Young BPW) are all BPW members under the age of 35. Young BPW was established in 1985 as a training and self-development programme for young members of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women organization (BPW International). It has since grown to become a truly international network of young career women. There are hundreds of Young BPW members around the world who are either at the beginning of their professional life or finishing up college. The age range of Young BPW members is between 21 and 35. On reaching 35, members become BPW members, but they can continue to work with Young BPW as mentors, trainers or consultants of different projects. The aim of giving an independent platform to young members is to encourage them to hold leadership roles as part of mentoring, training and development program within BPW International Organization.
