Waiting for December

Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has claimed on April 06 that by December 2009, there would be no loadshedding, as by that time they would be in a position to bridge the gap between supply and demand. He further said that he had directed PEPCO and PPIB to complete the rental power projects in time to end loadshedding by December. PEPCO and PPIB are planning to inject 400 MW into the system by that time. It is suggested that break-up and schedule of IPP and rental power projects to be commissioned by December2009 be notified. Also, the construction of Bhasha Dam be started immediately and the industrial sector of the country exempted from loadshedding. -ENGR. MUNAWAR HUSSAIN, via e-mail, April 8.
