Islamabad - Capital Administration and Development Division has issued notice to the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal to vacate the building within three months to make Autism Resource Unit for autistic children.

State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division, Barrister Usman Ibrahim stated this at the concluding of the three days training workshop on Autism at National Special Education Centre for Mentally Retarded Children (NSEC MRC), H-8/4.

He said, “Despite many requests to the PBM authorities, the building was not vacated to expand special education centre and make an Autism resource unit for mentally retarded children.”

This special education centre has shortage of space and if PBM is vacated, these children would be able to get more space and facilities, he added.

He appreciated the dedication and commitment of the team of this special education centre toward education and training of autistic children.

Director NSEC MRC, Ishrat Masood on the occasion said the centre has forwarded PC-I demanding Rs 45 million to the concerned authorities and after its approval, the centre could teach and train 100 autistic children.

She said that the three-day workshop witnessed maximum participation of the parents with autistic children who were eager to learn how to handle their children with autism.

Vice President, NSEC MRC, Rukh-i-Afzal Sajjad given presentation on “Autism Spectrum Disorder” and briefed the participants about the details of this disease. She urged the government to fix lifetime stipend for autistic children after getting free from this centre so that they could live a respectable life.

The parents, teachers and autistic children also expressed their views on the occasion. A number of children, parents, teachers and officials of the centre attended the ceremony.
