LAHORE - Three people including two bodyguards were killed and another wounded seriously during crossfire between two rival groups in Manawan police precincts on Thursday.
The killings took place over old enmity in Tahlwar Village located near Alampura, police said. The bodies were moved to the morgue for autopsy. A gunman was arrested with bullet injuries and shifted to hospital. Investigators said that Ghulam Fareed group had developed old enmity with Manzoor Gujjar group.
On the day of incident, Manzoor Gujjar along with his bodyguards stopped 30-year-old Ghulam Fareed near the village. The gunmen shot him dead after a brief altercation and tried to flee the crime scene when police and villagers reached. The gunmen also opened fire on the police and the villagers, who also retailed. As a result, two bodyguard of Manzoor Gujjar died on the spot while another wounded seriously.
Gujjar however, managed to escape during the crossfire. The bodyguards were identified as Niaz alias Naji and Zaman alias Fouji. The police have registered two separate cases and are investigating.
