Islamabad - The National Accountability Bureau is all set to brief the senators tomorrow (Monday) regarding the NAB action against the illegal housing societies in the federal capital, The Nation has reliably learnt.
The NAB sources told The Nation that the Senate Standing committee on Law and Justice had sought the briefing from NAB on illegal housing schemes and societies located in Islamabad. Following the committee’s instruction, the NAB sent a junior officer to brief the committee. The lawmakers minded it and bound the NAB to assign a DG level officer to inform the committee regarding NAB acts against fake housing societies in the next committee meeting, the sources added.
The sources said that NAB headquarters asked the Director General NAB Rawalpindi Zahir Shah along with Director Masood Alam to appear before the committee and share its comprehensive report which was compiled after the committee’s instructions.
Earlier, the committee sought detailed report by NAB on the matters referred by the committee in its meeting dated 18th November, 2015 regarding investigation about the role of ICT administration and Capital Development Authority (CDA), if any, in supporting/establishment of housing societies operating illegally in the ICT (including such societies which are registered with the Rawalpindi Development Authority).
The NAB and CDA had jointly worked out illegal housing societies in the city and national anti-corruption watchdog also identified the officials in the CDA who were involved in the growth of illegal housing societies in Islamabad.
The CDA indicated more than 100 illegal housing societies and schemes in the city and shared the details with NAB.
