Two notorious dacoits were killed allegedly by their accomplices in separate areas here on Saturday.

Kasur DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that notorious dacoit Imran alliance Mani, wanted in over 20 cases of robberies, shootouts with police, and possessing illegal weapons was killed by his own accomplices near Kali Pul area here the other night.

The DPO said that a person named Zafar called 15 late the other night, informing the police that three unidentified robbers had snatched Rs19,000, cellphone and a gold ring from him at gunpoint in Basti Barat Shah and fled towards Ferozpur Road. The police rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to arrest the robbers. The police set up pickets and started checking vehicles at Kashmir Chowk. Meanwhile, five unknown persons, riding two motorbikes came from Kutchery Road. The police attempted to intercept them but they opened fire on the police and fled towards to Steel Mor under the cover of fire.

The police went after the accused and found an injured person identified as Imran near Kali Pul area. He informed the police that he was shot by his accomplices. He admitted that he and his accomplices snatched Rs19,000, a cellphone and a ring from a person in Basti Barat Shah.

The police shifted the injured dacoit to DHQ Hospital Kasur but succumbed to his injuries on the way. The police also recovered a pistol, Rs10,000 and two cellphones from the accused.

The police have registered a case against the accused escaped from the scene.

In Sargodha, an outlaw involved in 34 cases of heinous crimes was killed allegedly by his accomplices after they got him freed from the police custody here in the remit of Jhal Chakkian Police on Saturday.

According to the police, notorious Ghulam Abbas Wijhal alias Baso had been involved in murder, attempt to murder, robberies and killing of the additional IGP’s gunman. The police claimed that armed accomplices of Ghulam Abbas alias Baso ambushed a police team escorting the accused and got him freed him from the police custody. The accused also snatched official Kalashnikov from the escorting cops. Later, in the jurisdiction of Jhal Chakkian Police, the criminals developed difference and started firing on each other’s. As a result Ghulam Abbas alias was killed due to the firing of his accomplices who fled the scene. A police source informed that the dead dacoit was involved in more than 34 cases of heinous crime. Later the dead body was shifted to DHQ hospital for autopsy and medico-legal formalities.
