SAHIWAL-The Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Sahiwal conferred degrees on 374 students at its 113th convocation held in its sports ground here the other day. The degrees were awarded to the students of Computer Science, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering. The position-holders were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals.

Renowned physicist and nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand was the chief guest of the event. CIIT Rector Dr Raheel Qamar was the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, CIIT Sahiwal Director Dr Saleem Farooq Shaukat showered the university management and the faculty with praise for their brilliant performance. He highlighted the academic achievements of the institution.

Dr Samar Mubarakmand threw light on tremendous development in nuclear and missile technology of Pakistan. CIIT Rector Dr Raheel Qamar congratulated the university management and students on approval of a bill from National Assembly, declaring the institution a chartered university.

Later, a cake-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the approval of the bill and publication of 2,000 research articles of the students and teachers of the university. At the end, sixty teachers were awarded certificates and cash prizes for promoting research and creativity.
