MARDAN - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan Monday said his party was standing by Pakistan Army and the people of tribal areas.

The PTI chairman, addressing a large public gathering at Lund Khwar village at Tehsil Takht Bhai of Mardan, Imran said, “We were against the government policy to join the US war and send Pakistan Army to the tribal areas.”

A large number of PTI workers, wearing two-coloured caps and carrying party flags, attended the gathering. On this occasion, a well-known family of landlord Sarfaraz Khan announced to join Khan’s party. The public gathering was a show of strength by KP Minister Atif Khan who belongs to Mardan.

The PTI activists chanted slogans in favour of the party and its leadership throughout the day and marched on the roads to celebrate the arrival of Imran Khan.

Big banners, posters and hoardings of Imran Khan, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, KP Education and Energy Minister Atif Khan and other central and provincial leaders were displayed at almost all the main roads and venue of the meeting.

Imran Khan said Maulana Fazlur and Mahmood Khan Achakzai were against the merger of Federally-Administered Tribal Areas with KP because they were frightened that PTI would become stronger with the merger. He said if PTI came to power, it would merge Fata with KP and start development works, spending funds on the people of Fata.

The PTI chief said the party would also hold local government elections in Fata if they came to power. He said PTI was standing by Pakistan Army because it protected the people.

Imran Khan said destruction continued in several Muslim countries, including Somalia, Yemen, Syria and Libya, but Pakistan was safe because of Pakistan Army.

Strongly criticising Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Khan said the JUI-F chief always joined a ruling party, but this time he would not be allowed to ally with PTI.

“Maulana visits all over the world as the Kashmir Committee chairman while brutalities continue in Kashmir,” the PTI chairman said. He said robbers had united in the name of protection of democracy.

Imran Khan said Nawaz Sharif was asking why he was ousted. “I have told him he was ousted as the prime minister because he stole Rs 300 billion,” the PTI chairman asserted.

He said PTI as well as the entire nation was standing by the judiciary, the judges and members of the joint investigation team.

Imran Khan said the PTI lawmakers who sold their votes in the Senate elections would face disciplinary action and would be expelled from the party.

He said he did not spend any penny of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government on his person.

The PTI chief said the 126-day set-in in Islamabad raised awareness among the nation. He advised the party workers to prepare for the 2018 elections and also attend the 29th April rally being held at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore.

“I am watching a new Pakistan, the Pakistan of Quaid-i-Azam after the 2018 elections,” Imran Khan added.

Pervez Khattak, while addressing the gathering, said they HAD brought a change in KP. He added the PTI government had changed the police, education and the health departments.
