ISLAMABAD   -  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Saturday that the process to send Imran Khan’s ‘fascist regime’ home was a difficult task.

In a tweet late Saturday, the premier also said that the next challenge for his government would be ‘to alleviate the sufferings of people caused due to incompetent, corrupt, and violent regime’ of Imran Khan.’

“Process of sending this fascist regime home has not been easy, but the tougher challenge is to alleviate the sufferings of people caused due to incompetent, corrupt, & violent regime of Niazi. Congratulations Hamza. Work hard & serve the people of Punjab with your heart & soul.”

Meanwhile, Expressing his commitment to overcoming load-shedding in the country, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held the PTI government responsible for the power outage.

“The country is facing load-shedding due to the gross mismanagement and incompetence of previous government,” said the Prime Minister, speaking in the national assembly.

The Prime Minister said he has held several meetings with the Ministries of Petroleum, Power and the Finance in the last few days and the situation is that the country has the capacity to generate 35000 megawatts electricity. This is sufficient to meet our power requirements, he added. He, however, regretted that the power plants are closed due to shortage of gas. He pointed out that the previous government did not purchase the gas when it was available at the rate of three to four dollars per unit. He said today the gas price has reached thirty to thirty-five dollars per unit.

The Prime Minister recalled that the last government of PML-N had signed a gas import agreement with Qatar at a discounted rate, on which the previous government of PTI used to raise fingers.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inspected Rawal Chowk flyover and directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for immediate completion of the project without compromising its quality of work.

The prime minister, accompanied by top officials, reached the construction site early in the morning where he was given a briefing on the entire project.

Terming the project very important for the twin cities, the PM directed for the completion of this project by September 1 this year and said work has to be sped up.

The prime minister, while inspecting the project, observed that the project was almost stalled for many months and issued directions for holding an inquiry.

He also directed an audit of the project by a third party.

The prime minister, on the occasion, said that public interest projects should be completed within the stipulated period of time.

The project like this should be completed within six months, he said, adding the delay in its construction was adding to public woes.

The prime minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work, saying that lethargy and complacency were the apparent reasons behind the delayed project.

He said that even mega projects in the country had been accomplished within a period of two years but why this minor project was hitting the snags.

Shehbaz Sharif said that it was the central chowk and the closure of work on the project had been causing public nuisance.

The prime minister also raised questions about the award of contracts, construction company’s profile, landscaping and service lines etc.

The project was initiated during 2020 and its completion period was two years.
