LAHORE - Mozang police on Sunday arrested former prime minister Shaheed Benazir Bhuttos advisor Naveed Malik for his alleged involvement in Rs 8.6 million fraud case. According to the police, Rizwan Ahmad Chaudhry, a trader of Queens Road, filed an application against Naveed Malik claiming that he (Naveed) sold a piece of land covering an area of 3 Kanal 12 Marla at Chauburgi Chowk to him (Rizwan) but did not pay the commercialisation fee to the City District Government. He also sold that land to another trader Majid Ansari who constructed a patrol pump, adding a few days back police raided and sealed the business for not paying the said fee. Later on, it was reopened after Majid paid the fee but expressed his anger to him over the fraud. When Rizwan contacted Naveed Malik for discussing the matter and asked why did he not pay the fee at the time of selling the land. Police say instead to paying the money, the accused started intimidating Rizwan. A case has been registered against the accused on the statement of Rizwan and arrested Naveed Malik from Cantt area on Sunday night.
