LAHORE - Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of the Lahore High Court on Monday summoned ex-MNA Amir Yar Waran for Aug 19 in a writ petition against acceptance of his nomination papers for by-election being held in NA-184 Bahawalpur. The petition was filed by Muhammad Jamil, also a candidate for the by-election in the constituency of national assembly to be held on Aug 25. The petitioner challenged the acceptance of nomination papers of the respondent by returning officer concerned pleading that Mr Waran possessed fake degree of BA. He prayed to the court to set aside the decision of the returning order and disqua-lification of the respondent under Article 62 of the Con-stitution. Earlier, a full bench of the Lahore High Court had dismissed an appeal of Muh-ammad Jamil allowing Waran to contest by-poll, however, the bench had observed that matter could be agitated by filing a writ petition.
