LAHORE - A grand ceremony was arranged on the occasion of 64th Independence Day of Pakistan at the Government MAO College. Principal Prof Syed Irfan Hussain Zaidi was the chief guest on the occasion. A large number of professors, lecturers and staff of the college attended the ceremony held at the main building where the national flag was also hoisted. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal narrated woeful tales of the partition and said we should not forget the sacrifices by the Pakistan movement workers and the general people during migration. He said that remembering the struggle, we should make the country free of all ills, corruption, vices, violence, terrorism, sectarian conflicts, ethnic and regional feuds etc. Dean of Arts Prof Tahir Yousaf Bokhari said that though the nation was lagging behind in many fields but we should endeavour to make strides in the field of education to make this country strong. Prof Abdul Khaliq threw light on the Pakistan movement. The gathering also prayed for the martyrs and the flood affectees. Independence Day ceremony was also organised at the University of Education, Township. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mussarrat Mirza was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Muzaffar Abbas, Dr Anwarul Rehman Pasha, Prof Tassaduq Hussain Khokhar, Principal Lower Mall Campus and others also addressed the ceremony.
