ISLAMABAD President Asif Ali Zardari in his capacity as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces on Friday bucked up morale of the Pakistan Army, fighting war against militancy and carrying out flood relief operations simultaneously. The President did this morale boosting while Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani called on him at the Presidency and briefed him about both operations of the army including anti-terror and flood relief. Matters related to security situation in the country and activities of the Pak Army regarding relief and rescue operation in the flood affected areas were discussed during the meeting, stated a press release issued by the Presidency. According to well-places sources, the President desired the works of both the Government and the Army in unison while reaching out the people affected during the unprecedented floods across the country. They added that the President assured full support in terms of both political backing and financial provisions to the Army in fighting against the menace of terrorism. The COAS also assured the President that the Army would not allow the militants to exploit the flood situation and would continue with the pace of operations against terrorists, towards ultimate goal of rooting out extremism from the society, sources added.
